No Air Coming Out of Vents

Poor air flow, ohhh no! Your air conditioning is on full blast, but you notice hardly any air blowing out of the vents. This lack of air can be frustrating, especially as the late summer heat continues. However, there are several reasons why this could be happening, and most of them have a simple fix.

Weak airflow from your air conditioning system is a somewhat common issue homeowners face. However, with proper maintenance and timely repairs, these low-airflow problems are avoidable. Regular maintenance is the key to preventing issues; if you find yourself in this situation, there are a few potential culprits!

Clogged or Dirty Air Filter

Changing your air filters is essential to prevent the common problem of no air blowing out of the vents. Homeowners should change their filters every  three months to 6 months. Not only does this help prevent clogs, it reduces allergens, and keeps your home’s air cleaner.

Debris

Although it is quite uncommon that debris would accumulate to a point that it would cause an air flow issue in your home, we have seen it  ! When was the last time you checked your vents? Debris, especially toys in your childrens bedrooms , or other objects may block airflow. Make sure to keep your vents clear and free of obstructions. We have also come across situations where critters have damaged ducting in attics and crawl spaces.

Low Refrigerant Levels

Insufficient refrigerant can freeze the condensation that accumulates on the evaporator coil to freeze, blocking airflow. This can lead to weak or no cold air blowing from vents in your house. Continued maintenance and inspections on your HVAC system are crucial to prevent this issue from recurring. These regular inspections will allow you to catch any signs of low refrigerant levels before they lead to more significant problems.

Damaged Blower Motor

Your blower motor moves the air inside your ductwork. Blowers are often in hot or humid areas and sometimes do not get the necessary maintenance. Damaged blower motors are often the cause of air flow issues.
